Solid cheek Santa Barbara spade bit with silver inlaid flower engraving. Shown with a blued iron finish.

This beautiful and unique bit pattern was so fun to put together. Read on for the story. In the fourth photo you can see the original silver inlay engraving on the left, and the silver engraving pattern on the right that we created to match.

“In 1979 I bought these spurs from Carrol Saddle Co.in Mcneil Arizona. They are E.G. spurs. At the time there was a halfbreed bit that went with them, both patterned off what a horseman by the name of Lee Wood used. The bit was inlaid with the same pattern as these spurs. I didn't have the money for the bit and also didn't have the knowledge to know that I should somehow get one. l have watched for one to come up on different sites for a long time and have never seen one. A like new pair of these spurs turned up in the Sheridan area owned by Adam Jahiel the photographer who is well known. He found them in a shop Oregon I think. Anyway if you ever come across the matching bit I would like to know about it. I am not familiar enough with the names of the styles of spade bits but if my memory serves me right | think the cheeks were shaped like the cheeks in the following photo and the roller in the halfbreed mouthpiece was covered”. *

A lovely gentleman named Ord Buckingham contacted me looking for a matching bit to the spurs he described above. Through many years of searching, he was not having luck with finding it. So we made him the bit in the pattern shown above that he had waited 40 years for. The bit offered for sale in this listing has a spade mouthpiece that measures 5 1/8” wide.
