19th Century Barclay / Buermann Large Iron Spurs Found in California

$500.00

Fantastic matched set of chased iron Barclay or Buermann western spurs. These exhibit large rowels and a stylized box shank that was typical of the spurs found in Alta California around the time of the Mexican War and no doubt influenced this pattern. I used to own a photo taken around 1885 of a Central California cowboy wearing this exact pattern. These were found in San Luis Obispo, so they were obviously popular in that area. They measure 7.5” overall with 2.5” drop shanks and 3.5” rowels. They retain the original heel chains. Overall a great looking set of real Vaquero spurs.
