Very hard to find Ernie Morris Limited Edition Signed & #’d California Vaquero Print. Born in Kern County, California Ernie was a 5th Gen Californian, and was a true cowboy. He was the great-grandson of a Pony Express rider and stage driver. Besides his paintings, Ernie has authored and illustrated five popular books about vaquero horsemanship and livestock handling – El Vaquero (published in 1989), el Buckaroo (published in 1995), Riata Men (published in 1999), California Cowboy Inventions (published in 2003), and Vaquero Heritage (published in 2014). He has illustrated several other books and publications, and he has been published in numerous newspaper and magazine articles regarding horse training methods, rawhide braiding, western art, etc. 

Rodeo Grounds” is a limited edition print on good quality heavy paper.  This beautiful print of an acrylic painting shows an older vaquero on a roan colored hackamore colt overlooking a vast range for gathering cattle to be sorted and processed in the distant rodeo grounds.  Print is numbered and signed by Ernie Morris. Don’t miss this as it will go fast. Ernie passed at 93 years old in Templeton, CA in 2021 and his art is already starting to climb steadily. In 2006 Ernie received the “Vaquero Craftsman” award from the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Society associated with their annual Vaquero Show. Ernie painted this work for the Vaquero Show that year.
