Recently found in an old Santa Barbara garage, this hand forged ring bit retains all of its rollers, chains, and parts. Mexican made, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century. A forged iron ring bit comprised of several chains and scrolled cheek plates. A very distinctive design that allows the large ring to go around the horse’s lower jaw. This type of bit was originally an Islamic design that became popular in Spain and was brought to the Americas with the Spanish conquistadors. Nice condition and could still be used if desired. Measures 6” overall with a 4.25” mouth opening. These make fantastic bunkhouse and cabin decor as they are great conversation pieces.
