Antique sterling silver curb bit

Antique sterling silver curb bit
This is a beautiful bit that I originally purchased as part of a 1920s bridle owned by a member of the Rancheros Visitadores. The bridle consisted of a very old leather headstall, a set of braided California rawhide romal reins, and this lovely bit. It was used by a young man who cowboyed on Rancho Tecolote, one of the original Spanish land grant ranches located on the coast a few miles above Santa Barbara. It measures 5 1/4” wide for the mouthpiece. Each shank has beautiful inlaid strips of sterling silver and lovely 1.5” sterling silver engraved conchos. This is a beautiful antique little California bit with a nice iron mouthpiece that would be perfect for using or add it to your collection. Bit is unmarked. Asking $395.
