Extremely rare spade bit by JJ Estrada with a mouthpiece by Abbie Hunt. This exceptional bit is from the time period where both makers worked in and around the Mardueño family’s shop. JJ Estrada taught Vicente Mardueño how to do silver work, as his father Jesus Mardueño did not do silver. It is also known that Abbie Hunt was working in the Mardueño shop in Santa Barbara from 1905 to 1907. The bell has six buttons which was a trademark of JJ Estrada. The spade mouthpiece is mullened and has a zinc disc soldered to the back of the spoon which was the trademark of Abbie Hunt. Bit measures 7” long and has a 5” wide mouthpiece with the spade measuring 3 3/4” tall.
