An outstanding example of a California made Santa Susanna cheek bit made circa late 1800s-early 1900s. This particular design originally came north from south of the border. This pattern is known for its sweeping cheekpieces that give a horse more lift through the withers and up to their poll to create more self carriage. The mouthpiece is a medium port with a cricket. This is a very usable bit and would be perfect for putting in use again on your nice bridle horse. No rust, weak spots or signs of damage anywhere. This bit has been meticulously preserved and cared for over the last 100 years. Each cheek has two sterling silver domed conchos with star engraving.  Beautiful patterns were stamped and etched into the gracefully sweeping cheeks. Asking 675.
