Antique Circa late 1800s Santa Susanna Silver Inlaid Bit

Antique Circa late 1800s Santa Susanna Silver Inlaid Bit
$400.00
Beautiful example of a Santa Susanna cheek bit made circa mid to late 1800s. This particular design originally came north from south of the border. This pattern is known for its sweeping cheekpieces that give a horse more lift through the withers and up to their poll to create more self carriage. Mouthpiece measures 5” wide and port is 2 1/2” tall. With loose cheeks that measure 8” long. Each cheek has a large silver domed concho with star engraving. Each cheek has the initials “GFU” engraved in silver below the bridle rings. The mouthpiece has a great handmade look made the old fashioned way. Beautiful patterns are etched into the gracefully sweeping cheeks. Asking 400 or best offer.
