1940s Solid 18K gold saddle tie bar by GRAVES MALONE of El Paso, Texas
Here is one of the rarest items around.....a solid 18K gold and ruby TIE BAR featuring a WESTERN SADDLE made by LEGENDARY BUCKLE MAKER, GRAVES MALONE of EL PASO, TEXAS. The bar and chains are also solid 18K gold. The flower and rosettes are done in 18K yellow gold. The saddle measures approximately 1 1/2 inches in length and 1 inch in width. To find a GRAVES MALONE piece like this is to find a NEEDLE IN A HAY STACK.
Graves Malone began in the late thirties around the same time of Holland’s of San Angelo, Nelson Silvia, Edward Bohlin, and others who made western ranger buckles. They also made other accessories in the western theme. Graves Malone passed away in El Paso around 1950, and there aren't many pieces of his work left for sale. The saddle is approx. 1 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Similar pieces, if you can find them, go for $1800 and up. Asking $1250 or best offer.
