Vintage 1950's Rare Levi’s Strauss & Co. Silver Saddleman Cowboy Employee Pin
A sterling silver tie clip made for the Levis Strauss jeans company. This amazing and exceptionally rare piece of American history shows the Levis cowboy with saddle thrown over his shoulder grasping his "LS" branding iron on his way to brand his cattle after a long day on the ranch driving his cattle.
The cowboy as a logo for the brand began to be seen in many forms of advertising and labels throughout the 1950's as the denim brand forged their identity as the mainstay for those involved in the rugged work in the American Midwest. One of the advertising slogans from the time was "As Western as the West itself".
This tie clip would wear exceptionally well with plaid shirts and wool ties with jeans. It is less formal (as shown here), but there is no reason that a black Western jacket with white shirt and black tie could also not be styled with it.
The brand and its vintage pieces are highly sought after all over the world. This tie clip is very rare indeed. The detail on the pieces is stunning. From the stitching on the back of the pockets, leather Levis label through to the rolled up jeans and the "LS" on the branding iron itself. Marked "Sterling" on both the clip and the cowboy. Made in America, circa 1950's.
