Marked Garcia Saddlery Salinas, California silver mounted headstall and rolled leather split reins. This set is in immaculate condition. It’s very rare to find a rolled leather California headstall from this era without any leather damage. The headstall features (6) 1” sterling silver ferrules and (2) 1” triangular silver conchos. The mark “GARCIA SADDLERY CO, SALINAS CALIF” is crisply stamped in the leather in several places. The matching leather split reins have a total of (46) sterling silver engraved conchos measuring 1/2” tall, and (12) 1” sterling silver ferrules. All of the hardware is anchor marked for North & Judd. This is a spectacular California set-up that has seen very little use and has been conserved for over 70 years with the greatest of care.
A gorgeous vintage classic California bridle from the saddlery of G.S. Garcia’s sons, Les and Henry. The Garcia brothers’ partnership lasted from 1935 until 1957 when Les moved to Reno, Nevada and started his own bit and spur business. This set-up is the finest representation of usefulness and ingenuity of that time back when California was the pinnacle of cowboy culture. Asking $975 or best offer for this spectacular set!
