A very special braided leather bosalito made by the incomparable Luis B Ortega. Luis B. Ortega (1897–1995) is widely regarded as one of the greatest master rawhide braiders in American Western history. This was made by Luis circa 1960s. Double braided flat style. The original leather hanger is stamped twice on both cheeks with his mark “L.B. ORTEGA, CUSTOM MADE”. This spectacular bosalito is in brand new condition and has never been used. Extremely supple and as nice as the day it was made. This bosalito was part of a museum collection featuring Luis’s work that was displayed for many years in Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara, California. Provenance will be provided to the buyer. Asking 1850.
