Awesome circa 1750-1810 Spanish Colonial bronze ruido consistng of two elements, the higa and the coscojos. The higa is attached to the hide and has three smaller pendants called coscojos attached to its base through loops. The coscojos created jingling sound that encouraged the horse into a gait, while higas were also worn as a protective amulet and were commonly attached to eighteenth-century Spanish horse gear. From a very old and respected collection. Measures 4” x 1-1/4”. Very hard to find on the loose. Great conversation piece or could be creatively utilized as jewelry.
