Exquisite late 1800s double mounted silver transitional spurs with straps and conchos, possibly Tom Hunt

$1,250.00

Exquisite late 1800s transitional spurs. Also known as Sonoran style spurs. They represented the transition from the Spanish colonial style of spur that was popular in the 1800s to the California style spur of the early 1900s with drop shanks and smaller rowels. The workmanship and silver strongly suggest these could be made by Southern Californian spur maker Tom Hunt, uncle and mentor of Abbie Hunt. These spurs are double mounted silver and in pristine shape. Each spur has a large domed silver concho with fine engraving. The chap guards on the shanks have the original copper pins. They are accented with original antique spur leathers with large 2” solid sterling silver conchos. The leather is supple and in very good shape. This is a fantastic pair of spurs that has been lovingly conserved and preserved for the last 150+ years.

3 1/4” heel opening; 6 3/4” total length; 3/4” wide heel bands; 2” rowels.

Asking 1250.
