Classic Indian used patch knife with pewter bolster and antler handle. These were a frontier tool of trade that was a necessity. Used to cut small pieces of cloth that was needed to “patch” or seal the gap between the barrel and lead ball of a flintlock or percussion smoothbore musket or trade gun to prevent gasses from escaping. This one resided for many years in the famous frontier weapons collection of Jim Dresslar. He was owner of the American Frontier Museum in Bargersville, Indiana and passed on in 2011. He was known for his world class collection of trade items, powder horns, Indian used guns, Kentucky Rifles, Frontier Knives, stone artifacts, accoutrements, etc. Measures 9” overall with a 4” blade. A rare chance for you to own an item from a classic collection.
