Beautiful antique Santa Barbara cheek silver mounted spade bit marked GS Garcia and Elko, Nev (with the backwards N in NEV). This bit has an exquisite spoon spade bit mouthpiece measuring 5 1/8” wide with a copper cricket. The braces are wrapped in copper and all appears to be original. Working rein chains are included. It has full sterling silver overlay with nice engraving that looks like the work of Alsalio Herrera or Filo Gutierrez. This particular G. S. Garcia hallmark with the backwards “N” dates to sometime around 1910 or so. What a wonderful old bit to add to your collection!
