LONE PINE STAMPEDE RODEO trophy spurs by North & Judd

$300.00

Great pair of 1930s North & Judd trophy spurs from the LONE PINE STAMPEDE RODEO. Lone Pine is a small town in an arid valley of the Owens River in eastern California. Located to the east of the Sierra Nevada, west of the White Mountains and Inyo Mountains, and north of the Mojave Desert, it sits on the west edge of the Great Basin. The Lone Pine Stampede was incorporated in the late 1930s to celebrate the ranching heritage and agricultural traditions of the Owens Valley and the surrounding towns of Bishop, Olancha, Bridgeport, and Independence. Spurs are mentioned as prizes awarded for one of the horse events in the 1946 rodeo program. Made of Hercules bronze, each spur is stamped “STAMPEDE” and “BISHOP, CAL.” In pristine condition, these spurs were well cared for over the last 75+ years. Asking 300. Stampede rodeo photos and rodeo programs courtesy of the Owens Valley History website.
