Casey Tibbs, arguably the most famous rodeo figure of all time, (1929 – 1990) was an American cowboy, rodeo performer, and actor. Tibbs held the “World All-Around Rodeo Champion” title twice, in 1951 and 1955. He also won in 1949, 1951–1954, and 1959, the world saddle bronc riding championship and in 1951 world bareback bronc riding championship. The National Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame features an iconic statue of Casey Tibbs aboard famous bucking horse “Necktie” as you walk through the main doors. These historic spurs are a relic of his early competitive days and are a rare opportunity for the collector to acquire something that belonged to an American Icon and western legend. They are personalized on both sides “C T” and retain the original straps. These historic spurs were formally sold at the prestigious High Noon western auction house, and have been in a private collection since. They were originally given to Mr. Myron Lindberg of Miles City, Montana and they are accompanied by a handwritten letter from Mr. Lindberg. The letter reads: “Casey Tibbs” gave me these spurs when I was 18 years old. I ran with his brothers. He wore these spurs, and even wore them in a match a match bronc ride in 1951 in Pierre, South Dakota against Billy Meyers. We were moving horses the day he gave them to me. It was in 1955. I got the scarf from my mother around the same time. She turns 100 yr old August 13, 2005 & she still lives in S. Dakota. Signed: Myron Lindberg. Script: “the spurs were painted gold a little of the gold paint is still on them”.
